[LeetCode] Maximum Subarray

Maximum Subarray

Find the contiguous subarray within an array (containing at least one number) which has the largest sum.
For example, given the array [−2,1,−3,4,−1,2,1,−5,4],
the contiguous subarray [4,−1,2,1] has the largest sum = 6.
Solution: Dynamic Programming, known as

Kadane's algorithm

    public int maxSubArray(int[] nums) {
        int max_so_far = nums[0];
        int max_ending_here = nums[0];
        for (int i = 1; i < nums.length; i++) {
            max_ending_here = Math.max(nums[i], max_ending_here + nums[i]);
            max_so_far = Math.max(max_so_far, max_ending_here);
        }
        return max_so_far;
    }
}
